Stupid Utes

I don't care if it gave them a perfect season, a BCS bid, and money/recognition for the MWC. I still wanted BYU to beat them!

Sigh.

Of course I am neither a Ute or a Cougar. I am a Buckeye. But I always seem to favor the U in these games and so I was happy with the outcome. I did think of you, though. I knew you'd be a saddy today.

They should have taken their stupid quarterback out of the game... he was fumble fingers for sure!

Cheryl,

I love your blog! It's exactly what a blog should be. I'm so impressed that you are doing that NaNoWriMo thing, and even that you've done it once already! I'm with you as a BYU fan. Poor Max didn't even make it to church today. :(

Yay, Michelle! You were fast. :) I'm glad you approve, too!

Hey, guys? I know Max Hall and Austin Collie (and their wives) personally. So please refrain with the insults. There's no possible way either of them could have WANTED this more, okay? I know it's fun to joke back and forth about it and guess/assume as to why the game was lost (and I know Max had a bad night), but this is VERY personal to me. Which is actually kind of weird, if you think about it...

Huh. And now that I've re-read all the comments and my own, it's WAY obvious I'm taking this too personal.

Oh, well. :)

With you there! Oh Max... Isn't he in your ward? Can't imagine what Elder's Quorum will be like today! ;)

Cristy-
He didn't come. It's actually kind of sad, but you would think he could get some space in our ward (any ward?) but he can't even walk from the Chapel to his Sunday School classroom without 20 people stopping to talk to him about the games. To everyone's credit, though, they usually say good and kind things, so it's not like they heckle him or anything. But I know what it's like to have people say "Oh, I'm so sorry" over something bad that has happened (for me, it's always a miscarriage? A sickness?) and you just want to punch everyone in the face. It's not that people are being mean, you just need time away from them for a while. I think that's why Max didn't come today.

Austin Collie was at church today, though, and from what I saw/heard, he was very gracious with people (so was his wife, Brooke). But then again, he's not the QB, eh? The expectations heaped on him are not nearly as high as they are on Max...poor guy.

I know the real reason BYU lost:

We were watching the game with some friends and their extended family, and one 7-year old nephew was VERY intent on the outcome of the game. He said that his Principal said that if BYU won, there would be no school on Wednesday, but if Utah won they would have to go to school. When the game was ending and the score was apparent, young Caden was quite upset that he had to go to school. So I told him "You know why BYU lost, don't you? See, they really REALLY wanted to win, but then they heard that if they won you wouldn't go to school on Wednesday. All the players decided it was very important for you to go to school and learn (because BYU is big on academics), so they decided to make the sacrifice and throw the game. Just for you!". Caden was less than amused. But the other adults played along, so I think he's semi-convinced it's the truth. I know none of the players will admit that was the reason, they're just too modest to let on that they were willing to throw the game for the sake of a young man's education...

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult anyone with my comment. (It's been deleted).

Of course they all wanted to win.

TaLaisa! I wasn't saying that so you would feel bad and delete your comment! Honest!

Now *I* feel rotten.
