It's Pouring Over Here

I got a calling!

Two, to be precise.

That's right, dear reader! The complaining and whining must have paid off! I got myself two callings yesterday, and they are good. Of course, if they had asked me to be the official "smile when you speak!" person, I would have been happy. Heh heh.
What was I called to do?
I'm the new choir accompanist (no surprise there. I'm the only one left with enough skillz to please the director. She's hard-core, people! Good music, good choir. I'm likin' it! You know, 4 years ago, I was the director of this ward choir. Full circle, people. Full circle).
I am also the Neighborhood Newsletter Editor. That's right! I get to compile loads of neighborhood information, church news, announcements, deeeeeeeeep thoughts, and put it all together into a bi-weekly newsletter that goes to every house in our ward boundaries! Woot! It sounds easy, right? Well, child, let me tell you: This newsletter has been around for a looooong time. Everyone loves it. Expects it. If it's late, I will get a phone call! And to distribute all of these newsletters, we rely on the Young Men; who don't always fulfill their duty. Luckily, I'm not above putting the smack down on some 14 year old boys. They are very wary of the wrath of Cheryl and cower when I give them the "look." Ah, yes, they are afraid. Very afraid! Plus, they like me. So, you know... *snort

So, hooray for callings!

Hey, do you remember the whole "when it rains, it pours" part of my life? And I felt like I was waiting for everything? Haha! Hoho! Heehee! Now I'm doing EVERYTHING:
*I accepted the invitation to be the choir accompanist for the 5th and 6th grade choir at our Elementary school (one hour practice, twice a week, every other month...). I just found out today they will PAY me to do it. Boo-yah! At the end of the year, I will get...drum roll, please...$240! Woot!
*I've been helping with the Prop 8 campaign and making survey calls to CA, and making address labels for brochures encouraging people to vote for Prop 8. And in case you didn't notice, and you live in California, I would encourage you to VOTE FOR PROP 8!! Ahem.
*I got my two callings.
*I've decided to unpack the office and go all crazy-crazy with the organization of financial and non-financial files. Of course, I haven't actually started, but I will. Tomorrow.
*My new-found Domesticity has not floundered, and I find myself cleaning every day. Can you believe it?!
*I'm okay with not being pregnant right now. I've made some peace with myself and with God in the last few days, and I've decided not to dwell on it too much (but still hoping!).
*Christmas is only TWO months away! And I have a goal to have all presents and cards/letters done by the end of November. This is something Aunt Carrie does every year, and she really inspired me last year to do it. I really want to accomplish this goal! I want it, and I want it bad.
*I have to read six books within the next 2-3 weeks. I just finished Fablehaven (shameful head bowing for not reading it earlier) and I'm on Fablehaven (II). After that, I need to read:
Fablehaven (III)
The 13th Reality (II) [this was the ARC I won! I got it this weekend in the mail; thank you, James! For those who want to know more about this great new middle grade/YA series, click here.]
Uglies (I've been wanting to read this for a long time)
I Capture the Castle (I didn't get to it in the last library rotation, so I'm hoping I can read it before I need to take it back; I hate renewing books if I can help it. Why? No idea. I'm just quirky that way.)

So, yeah. It's raining over here; pouring, really. But it's not a cold rain, neither is it a dark rain. It's a bright, warm, soft rain; the kind you find on the beaches in Hawaii. Ah, yes...let's think of Hawaii...sigh... See? Rain can be good. Busy-ness is a blessing when accompanied with realistic expectations and service.

How does your life go, dear reader? Run, run, run, run, and STOP! or wait, wait, wait, now RUN! Or a combination of both?

Hooray! I'm so glad you are busy Happy and going Crazy... again! You will excel at both those callings, and be a blessing and asset to the ward. (Miss that newsletter! I wrote the thought once and it was way intimidating...) It pours for me right now, but I feel lots of eager anticipation for the weeks ahead. Keep smiling!

I am glad you are reading I capture the Castle - I hope you love it.

Also kudos for fighting the fight from Utah - you are such a good example for doing all and then some

Hmmm...I'm mostly just parked right now. I think I'll just sit here and watch you run for a while.

It's just drizzling a nice, warm, steady rain around here. It's not unlike Hawaii rain, which I will be enjoying in real life in about...4 weeks!!! Yeehaw!

I'm so happy you got a calling. It's so true that when you start getting motivated on your own that the things you've been waiting for from the outside all of a sudden start happening, too.

Good job on Prop 8. I love that you're working so hard on it.

Glad for the callings (although choir pianist would put me over the edge . . . couldn't do it).

I've read Fablehaven 2 and loved it. Currently reading #1 to the kidlets.

And my life? It's sort of run, run, run, wait, run, run, run, wait, run, run. Not sure what STOP would be like.

Cristy-
Good luck in the weeks ahead! It'll be great. It has to be great. :)

Camellia-
I love it when you comment. Do it more, okay?

Cardalls-
Hooray for doing calls!! And I'm glad that you are getting answers; I know it's been rough. :(

Tamrobot-
Doh! That is on my list; I should have added it. Is it good? And yes, Fablehaven is Brandon Mull's book. Oh, and hooray for Primary!

Bythelbs and Susan-
Well, just let me know if I start to get sweat rings in my pits from all the runnin', okay? *snort

Julie-
Dude. Stop making me jealous with all your "Hawaii in real life" talk! Not fair! Not fair! But I hope you have a blast all the same. Sigh. ;)

Leslie-
I will!

Ann-
What the!? You started a blog!! You started a blog!! Hooray!!

Annette-
Have you read #3, yet? Ooh! And good point. I guess it is more of a run, run, run, wait, rather than a stop. Makes sense!

Flip Flop-
Well, not most. Maybe Half. :)

Amanda-
Hey! You should move back here and do the newsletter for me. Yes! And I'm glad you liked Uglies. I actually think it was your recommendation that made me want to read it, if I'm not mistaken!

Yay for callings, I got one this week too....see my blog for details. I read you as often as you post, but google reader makes it so easy to not comment, I must be better, sorry! Thanks for the instant library list, I love getting new titles and I need something new, I just finished 2001 Space Odyssey. Thanks for blogging, I will be better at commenting!

I feel as though I'm running now as well but I've been running for a long time and I'd really like to try out that stopping stuff, I'd even go for a wait if I could get it. (I'm pretty sure I have pit stains.) Le sigh.

I'm glad so many things are going good for you. :) I feel like I am starting to get to that place and it is a nice place to be. On a side note, I would be excited if you could email me and tell me more about this newsletter of yours and maybe show me one. It sounds like something I would LOVE to do for my ward!
