The Universe is Against Me

Well, serves me right. I didn't vote. So much for my prophetic-AI abilities! Sigh.

Unfortunately, I saw the results in a restaurant in North Ogden. So, I didn't watch the show, and I still haven't watched the entire show --I only know that David Cook won. I'm sure I'll watch it later today...it looked good! Was it good?

It totally feels like Season Two when Clay Aiken lost to Reuban Studdard (dude, how do you spell Rueban?). Clearly, David Archuleta was the better singer. Ah, well. Life goes on.

Wait, Cheryl! you ask, Why were you in North Ogden??

Why, thank you for asking! I was meeting three fabulous high school friends I haven't seen since...well...okay, I saw Julie last week, and I saw SWC the week before, but BLS I haven't seen for a couple of years! And I don't think any of them have seen each other for a long time, either. Since one lives in Logan, and two are in SLC, we met up in Ogden. Best part? Besides reconnecting with old friends that haven't changed all that much and it felt so wonderful to be with them that even after the 2 hour dinner we stood in the cold parking lot for another hour still talking and then planning the next time we would see each other?? We ate in a restaurant that started in Blackfoot, Idaho. Yep! Melina's started there and we know the family (at least I think it's the same one. Is it?? Maybe I'm wrong...) But you'd be proud of me, dear reader. I didn't get the fried ice cream (but I did inhale all the chips/salsa --doh!).

So, are you happy David Cook won? Or sad? Or way past it and not caring?

I'm sad, very very sad. I really wanted David A to win. And I'm not even an AI fan. I think that David A will go far anyways, and he still got a new car out of the deal, so it's not all bad. And, I will admit David C is hot, but still, based on last nights performance, David A totally should have won.

I can't decide. I'm actually kind of surprised that Cook won because that's not usually how America votes. They'll both do fine so it really doesn't matter. I didn't watch it either though! We got free tickets to a Padres game so we went there to see them get their butts kicked. LOL

I was shocked, but kind of pleased. I know, this will go against what everyone who comments on your blog says, but I really liked David Cook. Archuleta was good, but there was something about Cook that I really liked. I thought his performances last night were great. I also watched a newscast directly following and Archuleta said he knew he wasn't going to win. I figure this is so junior high, but "I told you so!" I love you big sister!

I actually really enjoyed the results show, which is a first for my because usually I hate everything until they finally jsut announce the dang winner and I can go watch Top Chef. But I really enjoyed the performances, ZZ Top rules, Brooke was awesome, Bryan Adams is totally cool, and I LOVE LOVE LOVED David Archuleta singing Apologize, which is one of my favorite songs ever, and he sings it WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the original artist. He totally should have sung that song at some point in the competition. As far as the result, I feel they both were worthy, so it didn't really matter who won. No matter who got the crown they were both going to get a record deal easy. David C's got the whole Daughtry feel that's very in right now, and with Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers selling out and bringing in millions, David A is perfect for today's market.

Ok, I meant to say that Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brother's are selling out CONCERTS, not just selling out. I mean, they're teen puppets for Disney, it's hard to "sell out" from that...

So, I've driven past Melina's a million times... and my friend worked there, but it never occurred to me that it was the same Melina's as the good ol' hometown... Man I haven't been there in ages! Time for tacos!!!

Who cares who wins? That finale was awesome!

I heart David Cook. In an almost inappropriate-for-a-married-woman kind of way. ;) But, I do think Archie would've been a better Idol. Cook doesn't really need the title to succeed, 'cuz he just rocks. And cutie Archie would've been a cool role model for the kiddies. But I think they'll both have awesome careers, so it doesn't really matter who got the crown, right?

I didn't vote on purpose because I wanted each one of them to win for different reasons so I just stood back and watched.

My nine year old was sad that David A. didn't win and I told her that I am sad for him, but that I'm happy for David C. They will both do really well and they both seem like really great guys who deserve something like this.

Well, dang, people! Now I have to get over to the TV and watch the finale. It sounds so good!

Delurking to say that I LOVE Melina's! It's my favorite place!

I dvr'd the show... and the last thing I heard was "and the winner is David..." then the dvr shut off. i guess the show was running long, and so i didn't get to see the announcement. bummer!

I hate David Cook. I'll agree that he's good at what he does, but I hate what he does. It's just like Creed, or Nickelback, or Daughtry, etc. etc. etc., and I just really don't want another one of those assaulting my ears. I really grew to appreciate David Archuleta's voice because it's so clear and not all distorted like Cook's. But what can you do? We all know they'll both do just fine.

And it was a really, really good show. You definitely need to watch it! I loved all the guest performers and collaborations and group numbers. Probably the best two hours of TV I've seen in a long time.

Oh, and this is Veronica Park. Hi!

De-lurking to say "Woooooo David Cook!" It was really great to see you three....I have a cat. ;)

Becky-
If I had been drinking any kind of liquid right now, it would be flying out of my nose. Never has the phrase "I have a cat." been so hilarious!! I'm so glad I got to see you yesterday. :)

Veronica-
WOW! You read my blog?! Or just this post? I feel so privileged!

Motherboard-
Thank you for delurking! I love delurkers. :) And our DVR stopped recording right AFTER Ryan said "Cook", so it was good. Although I already knew because of the restaurant. Which, by the way, is very good --you are right!

Brooke S. -
I'm positive it's the same one, but I could be wrong. I know the family expanded into Utah, so it might be!

Oh, and sorry Julie. I know the look on my face said it all and you can shoot me later for giving it away. I'm a bad friend. :( But I still love you!

Jocelyn said...

Well, first I laughed because Becky has a cat, then I laughed because you apologized for giving it away! It was pretty painfully obvious, though!!! :)

Now, I am going to watch the finale while I fold LAUNDRY (I feel like I'm always talking about that dam* thing lately!). And since it's 2 in the afternoon, my kids will be watching with me. How does everyone who's seen the finale feel about that? Okay for a 4,3,& almost 2 year old? I figure just once won't hurt. I am DYING to watch, even though Cheryl ruined it for me already!
I wasn't totally shocked Cook won, but I was shocked by the huge margin.

First Mitt and now this. And making Brooke White sing "Bad girl" and "She works hard for the money" (prostitution songs)proves it is a conspiracy. It appears the entire WORLD is against us. (wink)

I've never seen an episode of AI (On the same nights as Biggest Loser and NCIS...) so I am probably not one to make a comment but here is my opinion:

David C is a little rock n roll, while David A is a little more soul. So, it is good that David C won because he will make albums that will sell better.

I thought that David A would win though...

The finale was really, really good. Loved it. My husband and I didn't start watching it until 10 pm and we were going to just FF to the end so he could see who won and go to bed, but once we started watching it we just couldn't stop. So many good performances!

The highlight for us: Gladys Knight and the would-be Pips. Hi.lar.i.ous.

And dude, it's Reuben with an E. There are two E's in Reuben.

I actually didn't care who won, so I was fine with it. But I was surprised even though Susan's been saying it would be Cook all along.

Susan M said...

To be fair, it wasn't me---it was Dial Idol!

You can be happy you missed the first half, bythelbs. The second half ruled, first was pffft. Except for Seal, who I love.

Janelle - It's a total anti-mormon conspiracy! When David Cook won, I turned to my husband and said "So, Brooke White got voted off, and now David A didn't win... does this mean the gospel isn't true?"

Cheryl said...

Okay, I watched the finale and it was Awesome! One of the best I've seen. I'm thinking it's because this is one of the best Top 12 we've ever had (although every time Amanda started singing, she was so obviously different and gravily in her voice that it was extremely grating).

Janelle and Lizzie-
Seriously, you guys crack me up!
