Reasons:
- I get some time away from the kids
- DH gets to be alone with the kids
- I always feel the Spirit so strongly
- I feel empowered to be sitting among so many women
- I love the music (especially last night's! That soloist gave me a glimpse of heaven...anyone know her name?)
- I am given the strength, the advice, the courage, and the tools to go back home and keep on trying my best.
- I never regret going.
- It gets me excited for General Conference
I just loved last night. It was fabulous! President Hinckley stated (more or less) that women are NOT second class citizens. That we are 50% of the Church membership and mothers to the other 50%. (good laugh at that one). I appreciate our Prophet. He's a wonderful man and is so close to God. He knows just what to say--and all without ceremony. I could go on and on --ooh! about the RS Gen. Presidency, too --but I've got to get the little ones ready for Church. I'll just say that I'm grateful to be part of such an amazing organization. And to know that I can feel the Lord's love for me in so many ways. I honestly do not know what I would do without my Faith...

Your self-righteous bullying, your condescending tone to women who disagree with you about how the Mormon church treats women--that kind of crap is what makes me want to leave the church. Hinkley can say that women aren't second class citizens in the church all he wants, but that doesn't make it so. It rather seems that if what he said were actually true, he wouldn't have to say it--everyone, especially women, would already KNOW it, and he would use his precious pulpit time for another pressing topic. Actions speak louder than words, dear.
katherine -
uh....there was no bullying or condescending tone with her post; however there does appear to be an ample supply in your comment. Don't preach what you don't practice.
Perhaps you could have mentioned this where the anger comes from...my comment on feministmormonhousewives.com, I guess?
Sorry katherine, but it's women like you that give the Church a bad name. If the True Church of Christ is, in fact, the LDS Church, then why are women so offended that men hold the Priesthood? That's what this is about, isn't it? I have NEVER felt inferior in any ward, stake, branch, group (I've been in one of those, too) or RS in all my growing up in the Church. If it is really as evil and terrible to women as so many of you claim, then I doubt it would exist.
Faith, katherine. Seriously, it sounds like you need more of it if you want your testimony to withstand anything. That would probably be a better place to put your energy, rather than trying to tear me down for believing so explicitly...
(thanks, sis. I really think she was talking about my other comment rather than this post--I'll have to go check that out...)
I guess it wasn't my comment on the other blog. Hmmm...have to think about that one. Still confused as to why I'm so evil...hmmm....And our Prophet...still wondering why he's so bad, too...
katherine --do I know you?
I loved the RS broadcast, too! I had a chance to go to the Conference Center for this one -- what an awesome feeling to be there with 20,000+ women! What amazing messages, too.
Lucky! I was offered tickets to go to the Conference Center --but the BYU football game ended at 5PM --and of course, I would be at the game... :) :)
