Fantastic Friday

Sometimes, I wonder how many people read my blog and then slowly back away (before running and screaming down the street). I wonder...

Hey, so how about some random?

Books I've read lately:
The Maid of Fairbourne Hall by Julie Klassen
Okay for Now by Gary D. Schmidt
Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson

I LOVED Edenbrooke. I was very impressed by the whole darn book! Well-rounded characters, believable behavior, delightful romance, fun plot twists, and very clean. Jane Austen would be proud! With that said, I also really enjoyed The Maid of Fairbourne Hall --for the same reasons. It's no secret I'm a sucker for regency romance, but I do not want to read about ripped bodices and such, thank you very much. I'm planning on reading more by Klassen and hopefully Donaldson will write more, too! If you enjoy regency romance, you'll like 'em. If you don't, then, well, you won't. Makes sense, right?
Oh, and if you read The Wednesday Wars, you should read Okay for Now. So good! So very, very good.

Can you believe I've never showed my kids the movie Newsies!? And can you believe that it's impossible to find any copies of the movie on DVD that's not a million dollars or even in stock because it is now on Broadway and everyone and their dog is wanting a copy all of a sudden? Like me? Ah, the days in college when we would blast the soundtrack during cleaning checks and dream of riding off to Santa Fe with Jack... Sigh... Although, personally, I prefered Josh. Or was it Joe? The brother. You know. That guy.

Is there anything more beautiful than grey stone walls along bright green grass drenched by spring rain? Sometimes, I really love our backyard.

School gets out next week. The first three days of summer vacation will be cleaning our house from top to bottom. I haven't told the kids, yet --I want to surprise them! They'll be so excited!

I always liked Dave (the brother) better than Jack too - and my kids LOVE Newsies. Wish we lived closer and I could lend you our copy!

thanks for the book suggestions! I got a Kindle for my bday/mother's day and I am itching to get some great books on there.

I loved Newsies too. I saw it in the theater about a hundred times.

Loved, loved, loved The Wednesday Wars and loved, loved Okay for Now. Such great books!
