Autumn Weekend

I spent many glorious hours in the mountains this past weekend. The first fun-filled time was when I got to spend two days with Julie, Julie P., Amanda, and Mother of the Wild Boys. It was so fun! We enjoyed staying up REALLY late chatting, hiking up at Sundance, and enjoying the beauty of Midway.
Our plan was to attend the Relief Society Broadcast in Midway (at a Stake Center), but the hike we chose ended up being twice as long as we realized, so we missed the broadcast (we hiked for almost 5 miles!). Luckily, the Internet is fast and provided us with brilliant highlights. I was glad, because I was disappointed we missed it. But we still had a blast! The fall foliage and great company was outstanding, dear reader. Outstanding! Here are some pictures to make you jealous:

Yesterday, the kids didn't have school, so I took them back up the mountains for a picnic. We stopped at an overlook on the Alpine Loop --the same exact spot where their father proposed to me almost 13 years ago --and took some more photos:

If you live in Utah, get up to the mountains! The leaves are all aglow --don't be late, or you might miss 'em, which, to me, would be the greatest of travesties.

Looks like a wonderful weekend! We were all set to go up the canyon this weekend, but then we all got sick. Grrr. This Sunday for sure, right after conference.

Part of my effort to take it easy this weekend included two -- count 'em, two - drives through the Alpine Loop...one on a little date with hubby, and then with the kiddos on Sunday. Stunning. Sacred, really. I think it's some of the most beautiful terrain in the world.

It was a really wonderful weekend and my soul was filled by the beauty of that hike.
It was a treat to see you -- so glad we've been friends for 20+ years. You're one of the good ones. :)
