Pictures of August 2010, including Yellowstone!

So, on August 9th, my 3rd child and first son had a birthday! He turned six years old. Which means he's starting first grade on Tuesday. How did this happen? When did he grow up?!

Anyway, we threw him a fun birthday party with his cousins and his buddies. It was water-themed and included water baseball, a water war, a pinata, presents, cake, and pizza. As far as birthday parties go, it was a rip-roaring success (thanks to my sister, SIL, and parents for helping!). There is nothing like old-school birthday parties, in my opinion...

Now for Yellowstone!

We arrived at our campsite on Thursday night, and met our neighbors:

It was a very nice evening, so after enjoying our campfire and dinner, we headed to the lake:

The next morning, we saw these guys:

We also saw some under-the-earth-activity (and smelled it, as well):

And even though it threatened (and finally did) rain, we spent some good times at the Canyon:

Our day was cut short because of rain, but the next day, we went to Old Faithful! We were pretty far back, so I didn't get the best pictures; the steam kept covering the water. Oh, well.

After a picnic lunch, we went on a very short nature walk...

...and then headed back to the lake:

On the day we left, we drove south to the Grand Tetons. We are so glad we did! Because just outside of Yellowstone, we saw this:

If you'd like to see more pictures and way better commentary on our trip, go here. Ann did a great job of reporting on our adventures!
