So Much Stuff You'll Have Topics To Talk About All Day!

Okay, just kidding. I actually saw this video and it made me bawl like a baby. So, I had to share it (even if everybody else is doing it, too). My favorite part is towards the end when the family is having family prayer and the boys are going crazy and the mom is trying to get them to be reverent. Not that behavior such as this happens in our home! At all. Ahem.

We are leaving for California on the 4th o' July. Brandon is coming with us! Even though he has to work while there and will then leave for school while there. I don't care! Time with him is time with him and I love that man to death. But leaving on a Sunday night on a holiday weekend means stress. No time to pack! No time to get camping gear in order! No time, but we're gonna go on a date tonight, anyway! So, I'm a tad stressed. The problem with my tad stressing is that when I get overwhelmed, I cope by procrastinating. Because that just makes sense, doesn't it?

My garden is rockin'! We now have continuous lettuce to eat, not to mention fabulous herbs. The peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, strawberries, and bush beans are starting to flower --huzzah! Weeds are few and far between, and I'm super-duper content with my "rough draft." Next year we'll add things like peas! And garlic! Aren't you jumping up and down with joy like me?!

A long time ago, in a land far away, Brandon and I worked at Aspen Grove Family Camp for a few years. Although that time was blissful (and painfully a distant memory), some good things came out of it (besides our resolve that one day we shall return! We shall! Because we must!). For example, there was a couple we worked with that we've recently kind-of come back into contact with. Lucky for me she lives close and is a professional photographer! Check this out. I'm dying to have her take our family pictures. Because like I said, she's a professional photographer (and good), and she's LOCAL. Did I say that enough? She's LOCAL!

Brandon found this. Neighborhood Fruit is a networking site helping people share their fruit! My favorite part:

Neighborhood Fruit was created to make use of the abundant fruit growing in our urban neighborhoods. Currently, the bulk of fruit grown in back yards in our cities goes to waste, while the fruit we consume is grown in water-intensive orchards far from our homes.

We envision a different future, where the bulk of backyard fruit is utilized and shared between neighbors. We envision a future where the food we eat is truly fresh, seasonal and local, our diets replete with home-made goodies.

Isn't that a fabulous idea? In fact, it reminds me that I need to talk to the backyard kiddie-corner house caretaker (the house is actually empty) and beg them to let me pick all the apples on their apple tree. Every fall, half the tree's apples fall into our yard because nobody picks the fruit. By the time I notice it, though, the apples are rotting and all over our ground. Annoying, eh? And what a waste!

Anyway, if you're interested, maybe you could help me spearhead a way to get Neighborhood Fruit into Utah? Think on it, dear reader...

Sad news. My SIL and BIL's niece died earlier this week. She was only 18 years old. It's tragic and sad and my prayers are with her family. Add yours to the bunch if you will, okay?
