The Biggest Loser: Week 3

The pictures didn't turn out as well this week (my bad!), but here is mine:
It says 195.4, which means I lost .9 pounds. Almost one!

Brandon:
His says 228.5. WOOT! He lost 1.5 pounds!

Here is TaLaisa's:
She lost 3 whole pounds! Holy cow! Here's what she had to say:
There are no words.
Okay maybe just a few. This is the result of running 30 minutes in the morning and 90 minutes of bikram yoga in the evening, 5 days a week. I'm literally sweating my guts out. And. Loving it.

Here is Marianne from last week:
This is what she said last week about her weight loss:
I'm happy with the results, although I'm dreading the "Week 2 Curse "! :o) Here's hoping for another loss this week.

My thoughts on the show:
*What's her face (red shirt) totally threw the weigh-in AGAIN! I couldn't believe it. Why would you do that? Why? The whole point is to lose and learn and get healthy, so what if you can "gain" or "not do as well" and still stay in the game? Total FAIL.
*Migdalia has a lot of baggage and emotional stuff to work through. I was impressed with both Bob and Jillian's ways of working with her and her mom to try and convince Migdalia to stay. I'm more of a Jillian person, though --if your head is messed up, then you can't expect to fix your body. My favorite part, though? Migdalia's mom telling her to figure out why she isn't happy. Good mom!
*Yay for the Italian mom swimming! (see how I can't remember names?)

My thoughts on weight-loss this week:
*Brandon started going back to Weight Watchers! Yay!
*Tips on how to eat:
1. Write everything down. Everything. That chocolate chip? Write it down. That taste of m&c you made for the kids? Write it down.
2. Plan ahead. For example, today I wrote down what I had for breakfast, and then I wrote down two snacks and my lunch --even though I haven't had them, yet. Then I wrote down "ice-cream" at the bottom of the page. Now I have to stay within my plan so I can get the ice-cream!
3. Do what WW teaches: Eat 5 servings fruits or veggies, whole-wheat and whole-grain (only!), 2 servings of dairy, 6-8 glasses of water, 2 tsp oil (I like olive), a multi-vitamin, 2 servings of lean protein (this could be beans or lean meat), and limit your sugar intake. Wanna know what I had for breakfast today? I ate one package of instant oatmeal (the weight management kind from Quaker) made with water, one banana (cut up in the oatmeal), and yogurt (it was the Western Family Light brand --only 1 point and no aspartame!). It was super filling, too!
4. Go for food that will tide you over. Grapes, popcorn, loads of veggies, whole-wheat grains.
5. Keep your cheese intake to a minimum. Cheese is okay, but not a lot. In fact, cheese is what has always killed me! It's one of my weaknesses. Now, I'm talking about yellow cheeses --cottage, mozzarella, feta, etc. are much better for you.

*I need to vamp up the exercising. Last night I did Pilates the entire time I watched The Biggest Loser (for at least 30-45 minutes...during a 2 hour show. Okay, okay, so it wasn't the ENTIRE time, but still!). Today I plan on doing some hard-core cardio...

Okay, now for you guys! Let me have it. How did you do? How much did you lose? What did you do to lose it? Any tips for the rest of us?

[And yes, I'm fully aware that I'm not putting your names out here and what you did or did not do, but so many of you have signed up for this and frankly, I don't have time to do it anymore (put your names in the post). Oh, and welcome to Dianne! I'm glad you decided to do this. Oh, and Becky, the pound for pound challenge has been weighing on my mind all week. I should do it, eh? And Julie P., you better have drank a lot of water this week! ;) ]

Love you guys!

Way to go, Cheryl and Brandon and everyone else! I weighed in yesterday at 178.8. I think that puts me down a pound. BUT. Then yesterday happened, and I was stressed and upset and kids were crazy and I tried to eat my sorrows away in a big bowl of Lucky Charms. I'm feeling the food hangover this morning. I don't want to feel that way again.

Red team woman is lame. She needs to buck up and admit that she threw the weigh in. We all know she did.

I am working my tail off, it makes me rethink and rethink and rethink the mindless eating. And with all that thinking, it's really hard to justify the cookie or the ice cream or whatever seems to be calling my name.

My feet look horrible in my picture. My apologies. Next weigh in I'm totally wearing my striped socks.

I was ticked about the red shirt gal throwing the weigh in and then getting so defensive when the trainers called her out. Own.It. Because it will totally bite her in the rear come workout time.

I loved the Jillian face to face with Migdalia. I loved hearing Jillian say crying is strength. Needed to hear that. And now I need to believe it.

OH! I forgot: Tiffany, SewSara is my buddy from high school. We're from the same hometown. So cool that you know her!

Well, I'm right back to week 1 - 200.8. Worked my butt off with C25k, but not enough to overcome the bloating that will resolve on its own in a couple of days, if you know what I mean. I've often wondered how often the BL women have less than great weigh-ins because of PMS bloating.

I was so excited when I saw on my scale that I lost 3 pounds this week! It helps me to write down what I eat before I eat it. I don't overeat as much that way because I know I've already written it down. Good work, everyone! Keep it up!

This week was not fantastic for me. I feel like life keeps getting in the way of my eating and exercising. Ugh! I did run Monday and Tuesday and did a workout video Tuesday morning as well. Today, nothing, I did nothing (that's not totally true, I babysat for a friend in a pinch, ALL DAY, and I will be doing it for two more days). See, life keeps getting in my way. But, I am committed and I will keep plugging along at this the best I can. I think my other frustration is because I have very few "pounds" to lose and mostly just inches, it takes time and I am not seeing quick results. Sorry to dump this all out here, but I am trying to be honest about what and why, and it is what it is.

But I played so much DDR this week! I am to be congratulated! :)

180.6 this week.

That's down 2.2...Hooray!

My mantra is WATER, WATER, WATER.

I've been doing some workout videos, the Wii fit and some core exercises. My goal has been 30 minutes a day. I'd like to up that to 45, but my boys are only content to laugh at me while I exercise for so long! ;o)

Keep up the good work, everyone!

I sucked this week. I gained 2.4 lbs....no work outs, and went out to eat for to much celebrating. but birthdays and anniversary's only come once a year and so do first time trips to the temple for sons going on missions. then last night i did it again at the cheescake factory..but worth it to celebrate 20 yrs with my honey...
now it is back on the treadmill for me and writing down everything. cheryl, thanks for the advice on your blog...i love it!
like i told gio...as long as for the month i go down some i'm not going to beat myself up for one week. that defeats the purpose....
we are all in this together and we will do it...as a man i like said..."yes we can!"
have a great day!

Red team woman is so going down if they ever go below the yellow line. She is just coasting...totally bugs me!

I know I'm late to the game this week, but yesterday came in at 156. So down three pounds in two weeks. And I finally quit letting myself use really lame excuses and got the gym for the first time in four weeks. Did a two mile run and circuit weights for legs.
