Thoughts for Friday

Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize.
Nope, not a joke.
Look, he may be a great man and a good president (jury's still out on that one, though), but the Nobel Peace Prize?? What the heck has he DONE to get it? The only thing I've seen is a divided nation against his policies and ideas.
I'm so confused...

Hey, look! It's me! With my new nephew! And it's a picture of me that doesn't make me run in horror!

--------------------------
I just finished reading Kathryn Lynard Soper's book, "The Year My Son and I Were Born" and it was fabulous. Amazing, really. I loved it, and you will too! I promise you will. Especially if you are a mother (which makes sense, since it's about a mother and her son). Seriously, go buy it. Read it. Thank me later. And if you've already read it, tell me what you loved about it...
-------------------------
Date night tonight! Huzzah!
Hey, so do you do date night with your hubby? Yes? No? If you do, what is a common thing you guys do? How often do you go out together? I like our routine, but it wouldn't hurt to have more ideas...
---------------------------
Nie Nie was on Oprah the other day, and although I missed it, I watched this video about her. Amazing. Simply amazing.
Seriously, it is women like this that make me realize that my life is freakin' awesome. Sure, I have struggles, and sure I have demons, but honestly? Who doesn't?
I'm betting you do, too.
Right?

I think it's cute that Pres. Obama has the Nobel Peace prize.

KLS's book is on my list of things to read, but I'm afraid I'm not emotionally ready to handle it yet.

My husband and I like to go out to eat. We love the food. That is our shared hobby. We don't go out as often as we think we should.

We had a date Saturday afternoon for our anniversary. We went to Walmart, early dinner, Penney's and back home. Friday night I paid our oldest to babysit the rest while we were going to go upstairs to watch a video, but he was asleep by the time I got upstairs, so I watched DVR'd Project Runway and was asleep before it was over. We often plan to go to movies, but ditch in favor of wandering around various stores or lingering at dinner.

I should add that I enjoy all of the above and wouldn't trade it most of the time. A fancy date here and there is nice, but ya know, whatever.

Lovely picture, congrats to Obama and yay for date night. Someday when I grow up (or more specifically when The Princess grows up enough that I can leave her with the boys) I'll start dating too!

What a beautiful picture of you. Date nights? Here's the great news coming up for you in a few years. Once your oldest kid reaches 11 or 12, you've got a built-in babysitter. It is awesome! My oldest has just recently become our babysitter for brief amounts of time (we never go far and always have a cell phone with us just in case). Seriously, it is incredible. We don't have to plan ahead of time, and we don't have to shell out money. (I am a firm believer in not taking advantage of kids by making them babysit for excessive amounts of time, but I don't believe in paying them since it's just what we do in families...hey, there could be different thinking about this one, but that's what we've decided for now.) That NieNie video was amazing. She has such a beautiful peace about her. After watching it, I looked at all the things I could do that day without any pain or discomfort, and I felt very lucky.
