Halloween Picture. 5 days late:
If you can't tell what they are, go to this post. It explains their costumes rather well, especially the cute story of #3 and why he wouldn't wear his costume. Looking at this picture you can tell how the day turned out --he wore he costume! It's amazing what candy bribing can do...
----------------------------
I have 17 piano students now.
Seven. Teen.
I'm not sure how I let myself get to this point, but I did. Three of my students come during the day or in the evening, so this helps. I also have sitters who watch my kids while I teach; most of these sitters are students of mine --they do it in exchange for their lesson. It works well this way! I love exchanges. My neighbor (the hair color genius) does my hair in exchange for her son's lesson. Oh, yes, I love this very much.
-----------------------------
Do you constantly question your mothering? Do you wonder if your kids are going to turn out okay, and do you every find yourself wishing you could start over?
Yeah, me, too.
That's all I have to say about that.
----------------------------
I've been wanting to have a Happy Meets Crazy bloggersnacker for a while now, but nobody seems that interested. Most people say "yeah, if I lived in your State" and others say "well, not if I have to drive more than 20 minutes" and still others have said...well...nothing.
So, I need you to be honest with me, dear reader-who-lives-in-Utah-or-comes-here-often: Is it me?
Yeah, I'm nothing if I'm not crazily insecure.
Please answer and answer truthfully, because I would like to have a Snacker over Thanksgiving Break. We're staying here, and so there will be some time for meeting the readers/bloggers I've come to love. Ooh! And you can meet me! Wouldn't that just make your day?
Yeah, I'm nothing if I don't waffle between vain pride and crazy insecurity.
So, what say you? Do you want to have a blogger get-together over Thanksgiving? Will you be around? Would you attend? Which day would you prefer? Would you rather just not do it? There are no right or wrong answers here, dear reader. If you honestly have no desire to meet me or any other blogger, you are welcome to express yourself thusly. Is thusly a word? No? Well, you know what I mean. Just be honest, tell me what you think, and then we'll move on from there. But if I'm met with silence, I may just have to cry a bit and stop blogging for a while.
Yeah, I'm nothing if I don't lay it all out there.
:)

Way had those days! I just hope that if I take them to church and taech them the gospel and they somehow have the same common sense that I have then maybe they will turn out alright!
I would love to come and meet but alas my in-laws invited themselves to my house for thanksgiving! It would have been great our kids are about the same ages too!
If this was our year to go to SLC for Thanksgiving then I would totally come! But we will be staying here this year.
The kids? I just pray every night that I am not messing them up too much.
Ok, I'm a little confused about when all your other piano students come if it's not during the day or the evening? You must have a longer day than me! :)
And as far as questioning your mothering, as far as I'm concerned, that's just a sign that you take your role seriously and want to do it right. I imagine that sentiment translates into doing LOTS of things right. ALL of us make mistakes everyday... today I ignored my son longer than I should have because I thought I was writing a really hilarious (and therefore "important") blog post. Now I regret that. So I'll do better next time. I'm sure you're doing a great job.
And as for the bloggersnacker thing, I'm normally up for free food under any circumstances, but I should probably draw the line when they require a plane ticket. But I'm sending good vibes your way. :)
Our bishop gave us a great compliment the other day, saying we must be doing something right because our son's so great. Gave me some hope--even though we all know that as a parent you can't take credit (or blame!) for everything your kids do.
And YES! I'd love to have a bloggersnacker! I'd vote for a Saturday lunch at the end of the break, since over the holiday itself we'll be doing the in-law thing (and the drive would be much longer than the 20 minutes from home). I'd be unlikely to make it Friday.
Ha! Steph, I meant during the morning or the evening; I teach after school and it's always crazy, so the morning and evening lessons are nice. I'm glad you caught that, though! :)
I'm with Annette, Saturday lunchtime would work for me.
And you're kidding on the questioning my mothering, right? I thought worrying too much was just part of being the mom! :D
I would so come, if we still lived there. I was supposed to go to my parents house (they live in Payosn) this year for thanksgiving, but I decided it was too much to do it by myself that time of year. I would love to get to meet you.
Your kids looked great, I love homemade costumes.
And Annette, I finally realized why your picture looks so familiar, I see you posting comments on my sil's blog (Michele Holmes), such a small world.
If I were going to be in UT, you know I'd be there.
I don't bother to question my mothering. Some days I suck, some days I do OK. If I have a bad day, I try to make the next one better. I don't like to dwell on my faults. It would take too long. :)
I'll snacker with you over New Years!
I think questioning our mothering is healthy...i am at one of those points too. have no idea to do with my #3 sometimes.
bloggersnacker sounds great but we'll be going to a buffet here in vegas. it sounds wonderfully simple to me right now. we are heading home a couple of weeks after thanksgiving so we are sticking around here and i'm not cooking for 5 of us!
I love the costumes, the robot is especially cute. Very cute.
Every mother questions her parenting. That's all there is to it. I like bythelbs response though. Some days are good, some days are bad. We all live through it.
As for a snacker - you all ready know, I would love to! Wednesday lunch would be PERFECT for me, but if it turned out to be Saturday, I would do my best to make it work.
Oh, I question my parenting every day. Especially when my children remind me of it by bad behavior. But, I have to just go forward you know. Usually I do a better job by the next day. In fact, the other day I was thinking that I have not had to give Liam a spank in over 6 months, so something must be working.
What you question your parenting? You must be really bad at it. I NEVER do that.
I'm all about a snacker, and meeting you, of course. I would probably even be willing to drive to utah county for it (that's some serious dedication you know.) Saturday afternoon would work best for me. (As in I almost certainly couldn't do it any other day.)
Oh, and you probably got it because you read my blog and know that I am nothing if not sarcastic, but for any of your readers who haven't been to the Wonderland, I was kidding about the mothering stuff.
Oh Cheryl that is not what I meant. I know everything will turn out fine. I just am not quite ready to be happy about the whole Obama thing... The castro and Stalin thing was actually written by my husband who feels even a little worse about it! (he actually posted a ton more and I erased it! it got a little crass).
Your post didn't offend me I was trying to dig deep down to feel the whole hope thing. I was trying to get your vibe. Thanks for your great blogging! I sure hope you don't mind me blog stalking you!
Polly
I'm a dork. You asked me and I didn't mean to be silent. I really was going to write you back really quick. Yeah, we see how well quick went. :P So anyways. Saturday. After Thanksgiving. That would be fun! :) So sorry again for being a dork. :)
Mothering: I question myself over and over and over. It's one of the hardest things for me because I so badly want to do it "right" - right for each of my children not meaning the same for each.
Snacker - we're not here over New Years, but I'm up for it any other time!
hey i see amber would go...so i would just jump in her van and make her give me a ride :)
Heather and I would be there for a bloggersnacker in a heartbeat if we could. It isn't you, it's the three states between us and you. ;)
Hey, where's my comment? I know I commented, I was coming back to this thread to see if you responded....stupid comment eating computer.
Anyway I would come if I could.
And what I asked you was where did you get the Snow White costume? Boogers wants to have a Snow White birthday next month and she needs the dress! lol. Eh, it's the least I can do.
I am rather new here, but I would TOTALLY come to your festivies!
I am local and I love coming here to get so good advice, and good laughs :0)
As for the Mothering thing, don't sweat it, If they don't turn out ok, just lock the door and deny they are yours!!
