Poetry and Testimonies (Mine and then Yours!)

If you'd like to read one of my poems, dear reader, please go to Mormon Women: Who We Are. If you recognize it, this is because I already shared it in my Easter post, but I'm sure you don't remember. Right? Right.

While you are there at MW, please take the time to look around and leave a First Person comment (or essay, or poem, etc.). In fact, that has given me a thought...

Do you remember the post I did a while back about Women of God? Anyway, that post prompted over 30 of you to leave your thoughts and feelings about the things I talked about (i.e. being a woman in the Church, following prophetic counsel, looking for righteousness, ignoring the world while embracing Christ, etc.). Each one of those comments were simply beautiful in their own right, and they would have been Perfect for what MW is looking for!

What are they looking for, you ask?

Comments like the ones you gave me! Testimonies! Stories! Not just the positive stuff, either --life isn't perfect, and we all struggle. But how does the Gospel help us through those struggles? MW wants to hear about it! This is what the website is designed for: A place where Women (and men) in the Gospel can share their experiences and stories without fear of being attacked or debated; a place where we can bear testimony of the truth and the Gospel in a positive way, you know? MW is doing what Elder Ballard asked us to do, but they can't do it alone. Four testimonies aren't very strong, but if there could be Four Hundred? Four Thousand? That would be strength!

So, get over there! Share and read, read and share. Oh, and while you're at it, read my poem, too, okay? Okay.

Thanks, Cheryl! You can also simply send poetry, essays, or even your thoughts in less formal form to 'mormonwoman' AT 'gmail' DOT 'com'

To emphasize something Cheryl said, this is not a typical blog, so you don't have to worry about criticism or debate or anything of the sort. We want it to be a safe place for people to just share their thoughts and to have each person's contribution stand alone as another voice, another person sharing how the gospel helps her/him in life.

We look forward to hearing from you! Please email us if you have any questions.
