Day Three and Day Four (June 28 -29) of the Fabulous Vacation

Day Three:
After a slow morning, my sister, BIL, mom, dad, and I left the kiddies with a few babysitters (YW from my parent's ward) and drove to Rexburg. We picked up my baby brother and went to do an endowment session in the Rexburg Temple. It was great! Except for the part where we all nodded off and took cat naps, I think it went rather well. :)
The Temple itself is stunning and was very beautiful inside. Although it's not a "small Temple", it's still not as large as other Temples, so it was very...how do I put it? Charming. Yeah, that's it. It was great to be in the Temple, and even better to be there with family. Just wished hubby had been there with me.
After getting home, we fed the kids...pizza? Yeah...we got pizza. (Can you tell, dear reader, that I'm having a hard time remembering all the details?) I think we bathed the kids next and perhaps I read a book? Or talked to my husband on the phone? Maybe we watched a movie. Michelle, do you remember? Maybe I should just read your blog. You always remember these things...

Day Four:
A-ha! I remember this day. We had Church at 11AM, and I realized that my children are much more apt to behave when their father is around. My girls were great (they've always been great in church), but my boys were pretty crazy. Luckily, I only had to go out into the hallway once, although the lady in front of me probably wished we just stayed out there. Oh, well.
Church was good, though. #4 is now going to nursery (one month early! Yes! And I don't feel bad!), and so I was able to enjoy the lessons and discussions. It's always nice to attend a ward somewhere else every once in a while, to see others' perspectives, but to also be reminded that the Gospel truly is the same all over the world. The Doctrines are the same, the counsel is the same, the lessons are from the same materials, etc. I love this. It always strengthens my Testimony.
After church, we had a nice big meal. My brother (the soldier) and his wife and son had arrived in time for Sacrament Meeting, so we had a nice crowded table for dinner. It was also my father's birthday, so it was good to be together. Here are some pictures from the birthday stuff:

The rest of the night was spent packing, I think. And talking? Maybe reading. Man, I must be tired since I can't remember. I do remember finishing As Always, Dave by Jack Weyland. Another light LDS read, but this time, it wasn't all fluffy. I was actually impressed with Weyland's novel --and I haven't been impressed with his novels since, well...since Charly? Or Sam? I do remember liking his books when I was younger, though. Brenda at the Prom was a goodie. Anyway, it was a nice read. It captured the problems with Young Single Adults now-a-days. You know, the desire to "hang out" and not date; the refusal to find a spouse, pursue any serious relationships, or take seriously the commandment to marry. For that, I thought Jack Weyland did an excellent job.
OH! Now I remember! We watched Nanny McPhee with the kids. That's what we did. My brain is all mushy, dear reader. Please forgive me for my lack of...well...brain. In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, I know why I took this picture:

The kids wanted to eat their ice cream bars and watch Nanny McPhee at the same time. But Grandma is wise and made them stay in the kitchen. Here they are sitting next to the rail, focused on the movie. Too cute!

Okay, Days Five and Six will come tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Ahh Charly and Sam...I remember those books. I haven't read a Jack Weyland in a long time.

I don't think I've seen a picture of the Rexburg Temple. It's beautiful!

Guess what...I missed seeing you in Rexburg by about 4 days...crazy, eh? Yeah...the temple is charming and very lovely. My in-laws live 3 minutes away (including finding a parking spot and getting inside). Fun, fun, fun!!!

I love the picture of the kids at the railing. Too cute!
One of these days we will return to Rexburg so we can go to the temple. It is on our list of things to do if and when we ever make it back out west. It is a rather long list at this point...
