Weekend Update

Spotlight Sunday will resume next week. Sorry I didn't do it yesterday!

Girl's Lunch Out

As soon as Brandon got home from North Carolina on Saturday, I left for SLC to eat lunch with some of my old college roomies. We went to The Training Table (yummy!) and had a fabulous time! Here are some of the things we talked about (that I hope to talk about at length with you, dear reader, in the future):
  • How parents of Jr. High kids enable their children to fail.
  • The importance of communication between husband and wife when it comes to intimacy (come on! You know you talk about that stuff, too).
  • How feminism has created a generation of pansy-boys that refuse to buck-up and be the "man" in a relationship.
  • How the Gospel is "freakin' true!!" (yes, those were my words, sorry).

It's always good to see "old" friends.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Date Night:

  • Red Lobster and some spicy Tilapia!
  • Ate out on the "patio" and therefore only had to wait 5 minutes (instead of 30).
  • Went to a movie! We rarely go, so when we do, it's kind of fun. We went and saw Iron Man, and whoo-ee! Fabulous flick! Very, very good. Robert Downey Jr. is believable and does an amazing job with the character. My favorite part? Stark still being Stark, even when he's "good".

Mother's Day

Here were the highlights:

  • Eating breakfast in bed, cute presents from the kiddies; and my Beco carrier came in the mail! I love it!!
  • Scene: boys in bathtub, me trying to do make-up, then spilling it all over myself, the counters, and the floor, me sobbing, Brandon confused as to why I'm not happy on Mother's day and frustrated he couldn't fix it. Fast-forward: Brandon taking #4 for ALL of church so I could sub a primary class, kids giving me presents they made in class, me forgetting that the morning rush was so crazy...
  • Enjoying a "Mission Farewell" talk by one of our boys (for those who don't know, we have three "boys"; Brandon's first deacons that basically hung out at our house their entire teenage years --two are already on their missions, this one was the last to go!).
  • Never having to make a meal.
  • Taking a NAP!! I haven't had a real nap in years, people. Years! Well, it feels like years. I napped for over an hour and the kids were quite noiseless (per their father's instructions) whilst I napped.
  • Being able to talk with both of my grandmothers and my mother all in the same phone call! My parents had gone to Canada over the weekend for my Grandmother's 80th birthday. Since my maternal and paternal grandparents are friends, we often get to see them together at the same time.
  • Going for a walk. I love family walks. We don't do it enough (hint, hint! Brandon!), and it was great to get out and use my new carrier!

How was your weekend?

My Sunday School class sang "Happy Mother's Day" to me, which was sweet.

My son cooked me lunch (spaghetti w/meatballs) and the kids cleaned the house.

I called my mom; my husband's mom called him.

You know mine was great! I got to eat at Rupe's! But I did miss being with Stanton.
I enjoyed all of your Mother's Day posts as part of my weekend.
And I'm so glad you saw Iron Man! It was really fun, huh?!

Hurray for Happy Mother's Days! Glad you had a good one.

Mine was great--didn't get that nap, though. Maybe next year.

Happy Mother's Day!

I trained my kids up from birth that moms still take naps. No one messes with the mom's Sunday nap.

I can't wait for your complete post on how Jr. High parents set their kids up to fail. We only have 1 year left around here, hope I haven't already screwed it up?

Ahh Training Table, where my roommates would drown our break up blues in a full order of cheese fries (with dipping sauce.) I like the All American Burger. Did you know Denae used to work there? Sounds like a great weekend.

Don't worry. I doubt you are one of the enablers we were talking about. In fact, I'm positive you are not. :)

Janelle-
Lucky Denae! We had our cheese fries and ultimate dipping sauce --but I got turkey to even it out. Sort of.

Julie-
Rupe's is the KING of burger joints. Man, I miss that place...

Take a nap today. You deserve it!

Susan M-
Spaghetti and meatballs sounds so good! So very, very good. Yumm...

Your weekend sounds like a lot of fun, Cheryl. I'm glad that you were able to get out and enjoy yourself!

Saturday was spent with soccer, and getting ready for Sunday. Sunday was church (which went pretty good), and we watched the Jazz game. Bryan made dinner, and we enjoyed a nice evening outside. We finished it off by watching a movie before bed.

Just sad I couldn't meet you when you were up in Salt Lake... :( -

Happy Mother's Day...(even though it's a couple of days late at this point).

I'm excited for you to use your carrier. We have an ergo carrier and they look very similar. We love it!
