Great Friend Visit and Am. Idol

What silly women we are! Cleaning the house like mad before our friend comes over. A friend we've known since the sixth grade, who doesn't care if we have a clean house. A friend who has three small children of her own, and we know the combined chaos that will be caused by all 7 children in the same vicinity will completely wipe out any evidence of a clean house, but we do it anyway. We clean.
And then the friend comes, and with her comes pleasant memories! Memories of mutual respect, admiration, and love for each other. Memories of a distant life, lived in a small farming community amongst the Jackiest of all Jack-Mormons. Memories of the good, the bad, the ugly, and the down-right beautiful. We talk about these memories, about our new lives, about our husbands, our children, and our homes. We discuss politics, blogging, the Gospel, and other friends (but no gossip! I swear! I promise!). We are constantly interrupted by the 7 children, and we forgive the interruptions because we know they will happen, regardless of our efforts to convince them that Yes! They want to be in the playroom the entire 6 hours!
Then our friend leaves, and we are sad, only because we had so much more to talk about. But we are happy, because we know we will see our friend again this summer, and hopefully many, many more times in the future.

American Idol:

I knew it. I knew it, dear reader, and you can accuse me of gloating. And being silly because most of you knew it, too.

David versus David is gonna be fun! I really hope that it all goes well and there isn't any out-of-tune-idge because I will scream and throw something at the TV if there is...

I really loved watching each of their visits to home, and their "journeys" through AI. It was kind of sweet how all three of them cried with emotion and were surprised by their fan bases. Very sweet.

The commercial/Ford video was funny, but only because their acting was so bad. Loved it!

Fantasia was just...just...kind of insane, really, don't you think? The look on Simon's face said it all. She did more dancing than singing, and when she did sing, it was just a few short things and some really scream-y notes and then what the heck was up with the guy singing in the balcony who had no face?! Seriously, that was just weird. And wrong. Same with that kiss she was laying on Ryan Seacrest when the cameras cut away, because by golly! This is a family show! (giggle).

What did you think?

Yeah I agree with you about Fantasia. I was just staring at the tv with a gaping mouth wondering what I was watching. I felt like she was singing in a different language because I had not clue what she was saying. It was just too weird.

I'm looking forward to next week!

The look on Simon's face was priceless. I kind of enjoyed the dancing--it was almost hypnotic.

I only watched the last 5 minutes to see who was eliminated (not like it was any surprise). I'll watch the rest later, maybe.

Doesn't it seem like the only place former contestants ever get to perform is on AI?

I'm stoked for the David/David final. They are both great, I just hope they "bring it, Dawg!"

I actually muted the Fantasia part, she just was weird.

And I loved the hometown videos, I loved when they cried, and I loved their Idol journey videos. Last night renewed my love for Idol...which is good 'cause I was ready to dump it after Tuesday's show!

I have to be honest--I got home from our so so fun day and Stanton was just finishing watching the show. I said,'Syesha's gone, right?' He said, 'yep.' And I turned on the Jazz game. It was that un-suspenseful for me. I might have to go back and watch the hometown things, though. I'm very glad I missed Fantasia -- she drove me nutso her whole season and she's gotten more cucko as the years have gone by.

Thanks for letting us leave you in utter chaos last night! The day was so much fun!

Of course I didn't see it last night...but that's ok...I have you to give me the highlights :)

I was in Murray, across the street from Murray High when David A "came home." (I was at the hospital visiting my new nephew!) I was totally blown away by the pandemonium...Glad David A was too! :)

And I loved your thoughts about your visit with a good "old" friend. I love those kinds of relationships...they are so wonderful.

A small farming community with the jackiest of Jack Mormons...that place sounds vaguely familiar... :)

Fluffy-
You would know! ;)

Julie-
You can leave my home in utter chaos anytime!

Leslie-
Did you see him!? Did you see him!?

Susan-
Ha! For sure. The only AI contestants I see performing anywhere else are the country stars...
