Well, dang, people! America got it right! Not only were the "bottom three" the correct "bottom three", but the one with the least votes was the one who deserved to get the least votes.
David H. is go-one, David H. is go-one...sing it with me...David H. is go-one, David H....
So, last night's AI show was fun. Not too long (hallelujah) and good job on making the "bottom three" sing BEFORE the reveal. Nothing ruins a song like someone bawling their eyes out because America doesn't love 'em enough.
Loved the contestants' commercial. I always love the commercials, although they've gotten more about the cars and less about the singers since Season Two. They're still fun to watch, though.
Katharine McPhee sang beautifully. She's one lucky dog to get David Foster behind her. Very, very lucky, because that man can make you an American star (just ask Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli). However, I hated her dress. Way too short. For the shoulder style, she should have gone with a floor length piece. She looked like she was trying to win AI again with her sexiness, as if she needed to sell her legs or something. And we all know how I feel about that. But the dress was just...okay, so I also thought it was ugly. Whatever. Ooh! And did you hear she just got married? To a guy 20 years older? To me, that's just a tad disturbing...
Oh, and my Aunt sent me this link about David Archuleta's father. Dang. It's sad.
Jim Carrey was funny. It was only a little awkward at times. It could have been much worse.
And did you see the clip at the beginning with Horton Hears a Who? My BIL's voice was heard! And he helped make that clip. Whoo-hoo! My BIL is now famous! (thanks tam, for the head's up about it. I totally heard his voice!).
What did you think about it all?
P.S. For all of you NON-AI people, I'll be posting something for you later today.

You're so loyal! I never watch the results show. Actually Yahoo spilled the beans about 7:30 our time so I didn't even have to wait to find out that David H. got voted off. Hooray!!
Instead I watched Persuasion AND the Kiera Knightly version of P&P. :) Yeah I was up a little late...
Cheryl, I LOVED last night! I was so absolutely thrilled at the results. I would have maybe taken Ramielle over Syesha, but it looks like she was in the bottom four. I loved how surprised David H was! I have this thing I love about cocky guys getting awkwardly reminded they're not that great. Rude, but true!
Kat McPhee totally married a sugar-daddy and you can tell by the size of her ring! I didn't like her dress either, for the same reason!
Anyway, I guess it pays to vote, as I've started doing it again this season. Now things are going the way they're supposed to! Yee-haw! It's going to be an awesome season.
And I listened for your bil, too!
I was so excited to see the smarmy cheese-meister go!
I don't get those May-December romances. Twenty years is a pretty big age difference.
What was up with Brooke's dancing last night? That opening number where they just had to kind of step together, step together--talk about awkard--my husband said, "Hey, she dances just like me." and he was right. I think she might need to just hold still in the future--find a piano bench or stool or step or something.
I think it's sad that the Beatles don't own the rights to their own music. I wonder if they'd have ok'd this use of it.
I wish someone had sang "Help," it's such a powerful song when done right.
Yeah, Brooke's dancing was very very awkward. Eeek.
David H. is gone. Yee-hah! Kristy Lee is next, though.
Hey, Don and I just watched the show. Chiqueze (?) was awesome. I can't believe it. I thought he was a gonner, but it was great. I love Brooke. I love that she is modest and great and doesn't have to do anything to be great. Just herself. David A, that was sad. I don't buy the stage dad thing. I wonder if he will go on a mission? I am so happy David H is gone. Kind of cheesy. I also agree that Simon is pretty good this year. I think he is being spot on about everything and not being "mean" just honest. I also love that you post about it because no one I know is watching it (okay, I only know a few people). So, it makes me feel like I am back home and we are having a gab on the couch.
Katie-
Aww, you're right! It is like we're on the couch. Simon has always been my fave...
Wiz-
I'm betting Kristy Lee stays longer than we think...
Susan-
I feel dumb for not knowing the Beatles don't own the rights to their songs. Who does? Did I miss that? I mean, did they explain it on AI? Interesting and very sad...
bythelbs-
Ha! For sure! I remember thinking the same thing. I had forgotten about it. Maybe I mentally forgave her or something. Poor Brooke. But at least she knows she can't dance!
Julie-
I'm so proud that you vote! You've almost convinced me...
Jamie-
Oh, man. Any Jane Austen flick is worth staying up late to watch! I turn on Persuasion while I clean just for the music. I always pause to watch the scene in the rain, though. ~sigh~
They didn't mention it on AI at all. All the Lennon/McCartney songs were part of a company Lennon and McCartney had, forget the details, but it ended up being bought by another company, and they were given shares in the bigger company. Eventually the publishing rights came up for sale, and McCartney tried to buy them but was outbid---by Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson put them up for collateral to Sony when they funded his recent album and I'm pretty sure Sony owns the rights to them now.
Okay, that actually sounds familiar to me now. I think I heard about Michael Jackson buying them. What a jerk! Oh, Sony. Aren't there any people who care about the personal side of things? I mean, it's not like McCartney needs the money, but I'm sure he'd like his own work, as he should!
