Question from Heidi:
...do you think it matters what kind of blender you use (if you're making smoothies daily)? Do you have any opinion on the BlendTec vs. Vitamix blenders?

We are in the process of purchasing a Blendtech. I think they are more versatile and have you seen Will It Blend? But the truth is that I chose this because of Robyn's comparisons. She has both, so, whatever.
Do you NEED one right now? Probably not. I've been using my inexpensive black&decker for a couple of weeks. It works okay --but there are still a lot of "chunks" in our smoothies. Plus, it doesn't make enough. I make just enough for everyone to have a fourth of what I think they should be having. With the Blendtech, I'll be able to make plenty for everyone, and they will come out mixed better --and much smoother.

#2 got glasses! I wanted to show you a picture, but I can't find my picture down-loader-thingy. Sufficeth to say, she looks great. She picked out these adorable chunky blue frames. Two kids in glasses now --pretty sure they won't be the last.
Holy cow. I just thought about braces. *shudder
But here's the strange part. When she wore her glasses to school for the first time (on Monday), some girl in her class made fun of her. #2 won't tell me what she said, but I could tell it really hurt her feelings. I asked her if she said anything back, and she shook her head.
Making fun of a kid in glasses? What is this, 1984? #1 never had anyone make fun of her; in fact, all the rage now is to wear glasses without lenses. Not kidding! Teenagers everywhere (and some young adults) are wearing frames without lenses. It's the new accessory, apparently.

This is my 1,100th post.
I've been blogging since January of 2006.
For most bloggers, this is nothin'. A lot of them have been blogging since blogs were invented (what, like 1998?). But I just realized I can't remember what I've said in the last five years. Have I been repeating myself over and over and over?
Yeah, probably.

#5 got his first haircut Monday night. Now he looks like a boy! He's adorable, and very sweet, and honestly looks like a girl; all of my boys have been mistaken for girls (when they were babies) numerous times. Which is fine by me!
That reminds me of another awesome post --I totally agree with her.

Don't be in a hurry to get your kids in braces. I had braces for a few years, got them off, had a growth spur, and then had to get them back on again! A total of FIVE years! And I didn't really need them in the first place!
And that is so sad about #2! Glasses are so cute. When I was in elementary school all the "cool kids" had glasses and I wanted to be like them so I lied during my eye exam so I could get glasses too... of course I didn't need them so they gave me headaches and I never wore them... BUT I still think they are so cute!
Congrats on the 1100 posts! Crazy!
I've got three in glasses and I hold out no hope for #4. But glasses are cute! I think one boy made a comment about my #2's glasses once, but he's generally a jerky kid, so it didn't bother her much. My glasses-wearing kids love that line from Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs "Four eyes! Four eyes! You need glasses to see!" I'd like to see pics of her new cute look!
People who wear glasses are losers! oh wait...
I like you.
Loved both posts you suggested! That segullah one brought me to tears because my life has not gone as planned either and as I have submitted to His plan for me I have found true joy and fulfillment.
Cheryl,
Thanks for the opinion on blenders. I just learned that Costco sells Blendtec and Vitamix blenders when their "roadshow" people for those blender companies come to the stores - twice yearly, or so. I'm not sure what the Blendtec prices are, but Vitamix is cheaper than I have found elsewhere during those times. (But you probably knew this already!)
