Swirly?

I'm having all kinds of swirly thoughts. No, not "getting-your-head-dunked-into-a-toilet" thoughts. Just random ones that swirl around. Here they are, in no particular order (therefore, staying connected to the definition of "swirly"):
  • If I'm such a great writer, then how come I get writer's block almost daily?
  • What if I'm the only one who thinks I'm a great writer? Will that be enough?
  • My 3 year old son is showing signs of OCD. More than usual.
  • Children are brilliant. They can take unwrapped rolls of paper towels and build a fort. Chairs become trains and obstacle courses. A blanket on the floor is the "safe" place, and the floor itself is an endless abyss. And sometimes, they will clean their room secretly before falling asleep, so the next morning they can laugh when their parents tell them to clean their room. That last one doesn't happen very often, but even one time can create joy.
  • My cell phone is picky about when it will get service. I hate it.
  • I'm wearing size 12 jeans now! I owe it to weight training twice a week. Oh, and not eating junk. I haven't been a size 12 since children entered my life...
  • It's amazing how loneliness can consume us when we're surrounded by people.
  • I love Primary, but I'm starting to miss RS.

Isn't a great writer with writers block exactly what kind of persona a tortured artist is supposed to have? That's how you know you are indeed great!

Your line about loneliness is so poignant and truthful. See you are great!

Congrats on the size 12, that is awesome!

I'm with you on missing RS. I had been in YW for 4 years when we moved so I was excited for some time in RS. Then 2 months later I was called into Primary. I'm disappointed that I wont hear the lessons for the new Joseph Smith manual.... =(

Kids are amazing. I love their little imaginations. Anything we can do to foster that is not wasted!

Hurray for size 12! You're a veritable shrinking violet. ;-)

Believe me, I understand how it is to be surrounded by people and yet feel lonely. It is all about deeper connections. Since moving to CO, I just don't have them like I used to even though I have a fair number of friends. I just MISS those bosom buddy connections!

OK. Cheryl, he's your first boy! He's not OCD I promise! I've realized that boys and girls really are really different! They just have lots more pent up energy and girls can sit still and draw... and as for being a good writer, every artist has bad times. You just keep working through it, or take a break! It'll come back!

I love OCD. It is a great quality.

And I hear ya on the loneliness. Definitely been there before.

Kelly-
That means a lot coming from a writer like yourself. :)

Amanda-
Totally! I've been in Primary for almost 3 years now. I really want a RS lesson. But now that #4 is mobile, I doubt I would get anything out of it at this point, anyway. :)

Amber-
Exactly!

Cristy-
No, it's not his wiggly spirit --he's a germaphobe, things have to be "just so" --and it's beyond the normal way of learning order that most 2 and 3 year olds go through. This type of behavior is looking slightly clinical. But we're not too worried about it. :)

Bren-
I blame you for the OCD. Okay, just kidding, because your brother is the reason, all the way. :)
