The kids don't have school today. I didn't know this until yesterday, when #2 reminded me. It's Teacher Quality Day. Why they chose today and not next Friday, thus giving the kids a four-day weekend, is beyond me. What is the point of today?
Blah.

#2 decided on a Love Birthday Party for her friends. Basically it's just a Valentine's theme. Although her birthday is on the 11th, we've never done the Valentine's theme before, so she was actually very excited with the idea. This has made my job very easy --all the stores are crammed with Valentine's stuff. Hooray!

The last few days have been pretty productive. I've stayed on top of all kinds of things (the house, the kids, the bills, the blog, the email), and so I feel a lazy day comin' on. That would be today. So...besides a quick trip to Costco (sometime before it closes for the day), I think I may just sit here all day.
You have my permission to do the same.

Tomorrow we're taking the kids to the Draper Temple Open House. I'm hoping/praying that they will have a great experience (and won't be too loud). I remember going to the Bountiful Temple Open House when I was about 12 (was I 12? 10? Now I can't remember) and thinking it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I know it may be too much to ask that my almost 2 year old have the same experience, but maybe my almost 8 year old will...
Are you doing anything cool this weekend? Have a great one!
I was at the Bountiful open house. It was such a wonderful experience. Good luck with your kids, I hope they enjoy it! So jealous that we don't get to go.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the love themed party, that sounds perfect!
I took my kids to the Draper temple open house a couple weeks ago. It was great. The temple is absolutely beautiful. My kids were great the whole time (wear really comfortable shoes, it is a LOT of walking and standing around) and kept saying how pretty it was. I think your kids will really enjoy it. I took them to one other open house (the Sacramento temple) and they were just as good. There's just something about being in the temple that even inspires little kids to be reverent.
ReplyDeleteThere is NO WAY you were 12 at the Bountiful open house because I was a newlywed when I went and I am NOT that much older than you. Look it up!
ReplyDeleteWith that said, have a great time. I think that would be a wonderful experience to have with the whole family.
And yay for being productive! Wish I could say the same about my week.
We're taking the kids to the open house next month. They're dying to see the inside of a temple so they can have half a clue what Grandma and Grandpa are doing on the other side of the planet.
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of them, they're coming for a visit during the temple closure, so hanging out with them is what I'll be doing this weekend. And the next. Woot!
Not much this weekend but I am coming to Draper to see my family next weekend and was able to book us a few tickets! YEAH thanks for the link Cheryl~
ReplyDeleteCheryl, after seeing you at the temple last night I resolved to come out of blog-stalker-dom hiding and let you know that I read (and love!) your blog (I think I first saw it from your page on Facebook). You are amazing. Enjoy your well-earned lazy day!!

ReplyDeleteOh, I was so happy to see your comment! Yay!
OH! And yes, Bythelbs, you are right. I had a friend email me and remind me that it was in the winter of 1994. That means I would have been 15, I believe. Or so.
Annette-
Hooray for your parents coming!!
I'm pretty sure we were 12. I think I went with my YW group.
ReplyDeleteWe're going in a couple of weeks and I'm hoping for the same thing.
Just a few little ditties this weekend for me. But today (because I have been pretty darn lazy the last few days), I have been purging my house of the crap. I cleaned out the toy room and am working on the upstairs now. Well, not now. Now I'm "making sure our peanut butter hasn't been recalled." I thought you might have something on that here...:)
Oops -- I guess I was wrong -- we must have been 15.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to Midway. I guess it's a cute little Swedish town 20 minutes outside of Park City. Antique shops, etc. Have fun at the temple open house! I went to the San Diego Open House when I was around 10 or twelve--HUGE impact. Have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI so wish I could go to the Open House..sounds wonderful! my boys are supposed to go camping, but may not because there is supposed to be rain. I rented chick flicks because they would be gone...I still may ban them from my room and still eat chocolate and watch them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the permission to sit here all day. I'm doing it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI want to take my kids to the open house too, but Jim thinks they won't get it. I think it will be one of those outings I force him into...
I went to the Bountiful open house, too.
ReplyDeleteWe took our then almost 2 year old to the Rexburg temple open house last year, and he really enjoyed it. He was fascinated by the "baptism" (the font) and wanted to go back to see it again when the tour was over.
Well I'm just totally vegging today since my mom has Boogers until probably 1 or so and DH is gone at a Scout thing. I slept in until 9:15. Oh pure bliss. I think I might take a shower though in a few minutes, that might be a good thing. Then tonight I am going to a surprise 40th birthday party for one of my friends. That should be fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time at the Bountiful Temple. I love open houses.
Teacher quality day? What the crap is that?
ReplyDeleteMy kids did have school Friday but now they're off track for the rest of the month. Wish me luck.
