- If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island, and could only bring three books with you, what would they be?
- Tell me your favorite hymn or primary song.
Yes, I know they are random, but I am excited to read your answers. So, share and share alike!
P.S. Guess who won on the Amazing Race last night!! No, I won't spoil it here (for all you late watchers), so go read about it here. I was so happy with the outcome I cried tears of joy. Yes, I am addicted to the Amazing Race, and I'm not afraid to proudly proclaim it!
P.S.S. Northanger Abbey was on last night. Oh, yes, it was spectacular! Much better than the original one. And I'm impressed with these leading men! Holy cow! Capt. Wentworth in Persuasion was spot on and Mr. Tilney in Northanger? Fabulous! I have to say Bravo! to the film makers. They are making this Austen Fan proud. Next week? Mansfield Park! They better do it well. That's one of my favorites --right up there with P&P.
I loved Northanger Abby last night. AW watched as well.
ReplyDeleteMy book picks are the scriptures and Jesus the Christ and more scripture guides. I don't re-read novels so they wouldn't be included. Maybe Family History Books?
Song: I will Go, I will Do the things the Lord commands.
Would the scripture Quad count as one book? I'm counting it: The Quad, Gone With the Wind and Sailor's Distress Signals for Dummies (I made that last one up. I mean, if I knew I was going to be stranded seems I might bring something worth my while!)
ReplyDeleteFavorite hymn is a toss up between I Lived in Heaven and My Heavenly Father's Plan (is that the one that starts out My life is a gift, my life has a plan...because that's the one I'm talking about.)
Now The Race. I wasn't disappointed that a nice guys finish first team won. But I was really rooting for Christina and her dad by the end. They had made such great strides throughout the race and it was definitely her race to lose. I was also a little disappointed in Don for not saying "glad I could run it with my grandson, blah, blah, blah." Instead he ended it "Yup, see told you I could do it." And forgot to mention Nick carried his pack the entire race. I'm happy with a TK/Rachel win over the couples that scream and fight. So Yea! Can't wait for season 13!
My three books would be Hearts in Hiding by Betsy Brannon Green, Goodnight, Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian and maybe an Anne George (Southern Sisters) mystery.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite hymn is I Believe in Christ, and my favorite primary song is A Child's Prayer.
I've never seen Amazing Race, but I love the Biggest Loser!
Books (scriptures omitted)
ReplyDelete1. SAS Survival Handbook - We actually have this book at home.
2. L Ron Hubbard's Mission Earth just for the sake that it's one of the longest novels in European language (1.2 million words). It's also supposed to be the worst science fiction book ever, so it's probably entertaining. If it really is as bad as they say, I can always use it for firewood or sending notes in bottles and it would last a long time.
3. The Life of Pi. I love this book.
Favorite Hymn: Come Thou Font Of Every Blessing Best hymn melody and lyrics ever.
Well, three books is really tough. I haven't read many books more than once, and I would probably have to read these many, many times.
ReplyDelete1. The Peacegiver - I haven't read it yet, but this would give me a great opportunity to do so.
2. My scriptures - I would have to find the time to read them if I was stranded somewhere.
3. Twilight (the whole series) - this is the most recent that I have read and I could probably read it again without getting bored.
My favorite hymn in #85 - How Firm A Foundation. The third verse is my favorite. Every time I was struggling with anything while I was in college I would think of that verse. It says, "Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed, For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand..."
My favorite primary song is "A Child's Prayer".
Oh, MAN!!! I can't believe I missed Northanger Abbey on Sunday! I totally marked my calendar and everything for 1/13, and entirely missed this week. DARN IT!! Now I've got to hunt for it elsewhere. Any chance Blockbuster's got a copy of this one???
ReplyDeleteAnswers: Probably classics like: To Kill A Mockingbird, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy (if it's not yet a classic, it should definitely be considered one. Great book for a 1st time mom-to-be).
As for hymns, I'll go with Spirit of God and I Need Thee Every Hour as a close second.
Finally got to see Northanger Abbey yesterday, as we were out of town all week. It was so good. They did a perfect job. And I agree that the old 80's one was horrendous!
