He asked me if I was:<br /><br />1. eating well and regularly<br />2. getting some exercise<br />3. getting enough sleep<br /><br />I could see areas I could improve. He told me that if I tightened up on those areas and still felt like I was losing control of my feelings he would be happy to help me find help, but that I likely could turn the tide by being more careful with those 3 things. <br /><br />Now, whenever I start to feel myself sliding towards being depressed I pull out my mental checklist and see what I need to do to better control my emotions.<br /><br />It works for me, and you asked. But I'm not suggesting that it would work for everyone, especially people with serious depression. I only struggle during hard, tedious times like months of morning sickness, those sleepless nights/months after a new baby is born, etc. <br /><br />I'm thrilled that you found someone who can help you feel better!
